This won't be the most action packed story we've written. This is one where the situation and past between Feuding Families are buried with words. At a Shepard Diner.
This is a story of reconciliation and peace. After all of the constant cynicism in stories and stories brushing everything under the table with jokes, I wanted to write something together that fit the season and had a real sense of earnesty and love to it.
Ideally, we'll start this one up tomorrow.

It had been 10. Long. Years. 10 years since the nightmare on the farm where he and has family had to fight for their lives alongside a ragtag group of civilians against a horde of cannibals and regenerating maniacs. 10 years since were forced to slaughter The Brannon Farm down to the last few surviving henchmen. 10 years of putting up with and surviving remnants of Thaddeus Brannons' extended family and the assassins that The Conoistre sent The Blackburn Family for exposing their entire organization and putting a massive target on their back after Thaddeus's clients were tracked down leading to a massive domino effect of the entire cannibal cult of rich assholes being exposed and hunted down. If what Ramona told him was true then even The Covens had gotten involved in hunting them...as well as some guy named John. Ramona didn't give a last name but stated he was 'diabolically' reliable. Now here he was about to meet other members of that family. Believe it or not he got to know her over Social Media over a period of time in between hanging out with his crew and managing his Trinity U courses. Eventually they moved up to face cam talks as they slowly got to know each other better and eventually reached a common ground. That was when she dropped the bombshell. As it turned out she was Jessica Brannon and she wanted to meet him. She knew her family had done wrong to him, his family and so many others and she wanted to make it right. She wanted to meet with him. It took him time for him to come to terms with the idea of meeting with another one of them, he thought it over for a long while but he eventually came to the decision to meet with her. To give her a chance. To do what he wanted to do after that night at the farm. To put all of this shit behind him and just rest. To finally bury the past and move on with his life. With both of their lives. The Conoistre were dead and gone. The cannibal killers were dead and gone. The hitmen were gone. It was finally over. It was time to put the past behind him and move on with his life. By sitting down with his nice girl and just talking things out with words. The fact that this would all be taking place in Shepard, probably the most neutral place in the world, was a bonus. Not only would it be safe for both of them but he could finally go see Shepard! If the conversation went well he might even be able to ask her to be his tour guide! Derrick was smart of course. His family knew where he was going and what was going on and while he didn't necessarily tell his friends everything they knew that he was going to spend the three day weekend in Shepard for a business meeting. It was technically true, so it wasn't a complete lie, and while Derrick wanted to tell them the whole truth...he didn't want to get them wrapped up in their family drama. So now here he was. Dressed in a fancy suit driving into the most amazing town in the world to meet with an online friend at a Diner to bury their family drama, come to a mutual understanding and move ahead with their lives with a renewed sense of peace and understanding. As a showing of good faith, he would walk right in without weapons. Shepard was a Neutral Zone anyway and violence wouldn't resolve this. Only words would resolve this. After all those years of fighting Derrick was ready to resolve this with peace. He took a deep breath and slowly blew it out and relaxed in his seat as he drove his car into town and prepared himself for the majestic beauty of the town.

Shepard was more beautiful than he anticipated. For a small town it had a real vibrance and luster to its architecture that made it stand out among any more normal town you'd visit and the people, the citizens of Shepard, the supernatural citizens that made up this town, were the real eye opener. Supernatural beings from all around the world, other dimensions, lived her in peace and tranquility with each other. Supernatural beings working 9-5 Jobs with humans and others just like them. Supernatural beings from everywhere just living their lives and going for walks in broad daylight walking with each other and humans in peace and harmony. If you looked to the sky you could see them flying through the air together. Centaurs, fairies, elves, dwarves, centaurs, minotaurs witches and so many other supernatural beings made up this melting pot of a mystical supernatural town and he personally could not wait to explore it but first he had a lunch meeting. Derrick continued driving until he reached the Diner and parked his car. He took his hands off of the wheel and took a deep breath and slowly blew it out as he relaxed. "Alright, come on Derrick, come on man, you can do this. It's alright. It's okay. You just need to talk to her. It'll be alright. So go in there, sit down, order a meal and talk to her. It'll all be okay. You're not going to freak out and she's not going to start anything. you're going to discuss this like a grown up and it will all be fine. You're okay. You're safe here. This is fine. it's totally normal. Just relax and go inside." Derrick calmed himself down, took off his seatbelt, double checked that he was leaving his guns behind in the car, then he got out, closed up, locked his car and walked inside of The Diner.

(It's okay. It's alright. You can leave your guns behind. Just leave them in the car. You do it all the time at college. It's fine. You're fine. Just walk in like you own the place. Confidence, Derrick, confidence! NO! MORE! FEAR! You've got this! It's FINE!) He focused his mind, calmed down and relaxed as he walked through the doors and into the diner. It was cozy. A nice relaxing cozy 1950's style Diner. He smiled and walked across the diner taking in the comfort of the diner. He walked across the diner and took a seat in a booth. "Oh hey that's comfy." He leaned against the seat and relaxed until a waitress walked up to him. "Ohhh myyyy. You're him, aren't you? Derrick Blackburn. The Survivor. I mean we've got a Kid Hero here in Shepard too, you've probably heard of him, David The King? He's awesome but this is still a huuuge honor! Hey, is it true you fought a monster with Scissor-Hands? Am I rambling? I have a problem with that. My name's Sara Houghton. I'll be your waitress. Friends call me Sara Motormouth. For the aforementioned reasons regarding rambling. You can tell me to stop at any time if I'm going on for too long. It's totally fine. You know we have some really amazing meals here. Really, the best in the state, if not the entire country. You can order anything and you will not be disappointed!" Derrick couldn't help but chuckle. "Okay, I needed that, Sara. I've been feeling tense about this meeting the whole time but you really eased the tension. Thank you." "Oh you are so welcome! People usually get annoyed when I'm rambling on for too long! Can I interest you in a Menu? It's magical so it'll be waaay bigger than any menu you've seen before! Huge, enormous, vast, large, big, monumental! We can and will serve anything and everything here!" "That's great. I would like a menu, Sara, thank you." "GREAT!" She replied while bouncing on her feet. "Here's your menu! Would you like to start with a drink?" "Sure. I'll take a Cherry Blossom Chili Zombie." "Oh! Perfect! Great! I'll have that right up!" She hurried into the back to retrieve his drink. Derrick relaxed and began examining the menu. He opened up and found multiple pages to it! "Huh?" He turned to the first page and the words of the menu began showing up in shimmering shining lights that listed everything on that page and their prices. He turned the page and got the next section. Then the next and the next and the next and the next! Derrick closed the menu and opened it back up again. He tried to find the middle of the menu but everytime he opened it up he found more and more pages but it still closed up so easily! "Wow. They weren't kidding about The Magic Menu. Does this have infinite pages?"

We got the text from Motormouth....a rather...lengthy text in fact." Eve showed her the lengthy paragraph she'd typed out and Izzy smirked. "She certainly doesn't skimp on the details." Izzy replied. "How are the girls feeling?" "Good. Cody's coaching them now and we'll be in the area while the meeting is going down." She pocketed the phone and let Izzy in while grabbing a Dossier on Derrick from a table and handing it to Izzy. "Thank the Student Council for the intel. He's certainly had a rather exciting life but despite everything he's an overall good guy." She explained while Izzy flipped through the information. Inside David and Cody were sitting with The Brannon Sisters as they prepared for the meeting.

Just treat it like you're going into a meeting with any other person, alright? You've already talked to him over the videos plenty of times, right? This will be just like that. Only in person. Just relax, take it easy, breathe and sit down for a peace talk. That's all this is. It's the middle of the day, broad daylight, in the diner and we'll be right there with you. Nothing is going to happen, alright?" Jean and Jessica nodded and relaxed thanks to Cody's advice and soothing motherly voice. "You're right. It's just peace talks. He didn't come here for a fight. He's here to work out a peace treaty and bury the past." Jessica agreed. "That's what we all agreed on." "It's just...a bit awkward, you know? After what happened between our branch family and them in the past." Jean admitted. "But, I'm sure we can do it. With everyone supporting us, and everyone sitting down to talk it out like grownups, we can get through this and move on to a better future. No more feuding. Just peace between our families." "I don't know if it will be the same for the rest of his family but this will be our first major step forward. Lets do it, sis. We can do this." "Y-yeah! Yeah! We can do this! He's just like everyone else! Another everyday person!" Jean agreed. "Besides which...admittedly, there is something else I wanted to ask him." "Really, what's that?" Cody asked her. "Well...it's something our dad discovered while researching him and it was later clarified in the dossier, but...apparently a member of The Red Dragon Coven's been hanging around him in the past." She looked back over to Izzy who was thumbing through the details. "Ramona Morganstern, right?" "That's right." Izzy clarified. "Now why would a Knight of the Red Dragon Coven be hanging around a College Kid?" "That's...a damn good question." Cody acknowledged. "We can ask him about that later though. Lets focus on the task at hand at first. We'll do a quick roleplay before we go, alright?" Oh Davey, honey! Can you come here for a minute?"

Can you come here for a minute?" David quickly stood up. "I'm here mom! What's up? Are we going?" "Almost time honey! We're going to do one last quick little roleplay to help the girls get into the proper mood for the meeting. Have you finished your research like I asked?" "You betcha! I've been going over it since their online meetings!" "Great! Come on into the kitchen and take a seat." David followed Cody into the kitchen and sat down at the table which was already prepped with a fake menu. "Okay. Derrick is all set in the Diner. Enter The Brannon Sisters from The Left!" The Brannon Sisters fist bumped each other and they walked across the living room into the kitchen like they were walking into the diner in an average day. They stopped and paused at the table. Jean cleared her throat and stepped forward. "Hello Derrick. My name is Jessica Brannon....this is my sister Jean. It's nice to meet you in person." David, playing the role of Derrick, stood up and offered his hand. "Hello Jessica. Hello Jean. It's nice to meet you. You have a wonderful and beautiful town here." They shook hands together and sat down at the kitchen table to begin their conversation while Cody, Izzy and Eve sat down at the kitchen island to mimic sitting around the diner to give the girls some backup.

Jessica BrannonShe keeps telling herself that she needs to be strong for her little sister, herself, but mostly her little sister. She can hear her grandfather's words commanding in her mind like a drill sergeant, "Don't show weakness, Kid. Never give them an edge" Those are the words that she usually uses to help anchor her down but now she feels like she just wants to leap out of her own skin and scream her head off. Jessica Brannon a 16-year-old girl clings to the sanctuary of the last bathroom stall within the confines of Cafe Arcadia. David felt it would be best that she remains there till Cody informs her of the family's arrival. Cafe Arcadia is one of the well-known restaurant establishments within Shepard that attracts just as many customers as The Bifrost Diner across the street. One thing of note regarding the cafe is that it is owned and run by Fairies. While Cafe Arcadia isn't a Neutral Zone like The Bifrost Diner people are aware to not cause any chaos within the diner. There is a reason why the motto 'Don't mess with fairies' exist. Panic grips her heart like a relentless demon, and her breaths become lost whispers in the cacophony of echoing footsteps. She wrestles with the storm inside her, trying to stand tall against its unyielding force. But her trembling hands betray her, making her phone slip from her grasp. Tears cascade down her cheeks like a waterfall of emotions. Jessica noticed that her phone didn't hit the floor, which was odd, but she couldn't focus on it now. What mattered was the feeling of two comforting hands on her shoulders, an unexpected solace that washed over her. Initially tense, she found herself easing under the soothing touch of her mysterious savior. "J-Just c-close y-your eyes," the soft voice behind her instructed, the words gentle and encouraging. "List a few positive aspects you have going for y-you." Nodding, Jessica obeyed, shutting her eyes tight. She allowed her mind to wander, seeking solace in thoughts of what she had going for her in this meeting of uncertainty. "Jean is safe with David and his family," she whispered, finding reassurance in the safety of her friend. "If Johnny plays her cards right, Grandfather would be at the meeting. As intimidating as I find him, he has more of a diplomatic mindset than my father. He was the one who surprisingly talked my uncle Charlie out of participating in The Blood Hunt." She felt her imagination painting a picture of her and her sister, embraced in the loving arms of a safe home, protected from the shadows that sought to engulf them. As she lets these positive aspects fill her thoughts, Jessica feels a sense of empowerment washes over her. The panic loosens its grip, giving way to comfort and hope. Bella, her enigmatic confidante, waits patiently for Jessica to find her center. The girl with the midnight eyes straightens her posture, feeling stronger now, bolstered by the realization of her inner strength. "You've got this," Bella whispers, her voice like a comforting caress. "Remember, the power is within you." Jessica nods, she smiled, "Thanks, I owe you one. What's your name?" Bella blushed at Jessica's compliment, her eyes cascaded down the floor. Biting her bottom lip she quietly hands Jess her phone back then rushed out the door.
