Jessica BrannonShe keeps telling herself that she needs to be strong for her little sister, herself, but mostly her little sister. She can hear her grandfather's words commanding in her mind like a drill sergeant, "Don't show weakness, Kid. Never give them an edge" Those are the words that she usually uses to help anchor her down but now she feels like she just wants to leap out of her own skin and scream her head off. Jessica Brannon a 16-year-old girl clings to the sanctuary of the last bathroom stall within the confines of Cafe Arcadia. David felt it would be best that she remains there till Cody informs her of the family's arrival. Cafe Arcadia is one of the well-known restaurant establishments within Shepard that attracts just as many customers as The Bifrost Diner across the street. One thing of note regarding the cafe is that it is owned and run by Fairies. While Cafe Arcadia isn't a Neutral Zone like The Bifrost Diner people are aware to not cause any chaos within the diner. There is a reason why the motto 'Don't mess with fairies' exist. Panic grips her heart like a relentless demon, and her breaths become lost whispers in the cacophony of echoing footsteps. She wrestles with the storm inside her, trying to stand tall against its unyielding force. But her trembling hands betray her, making her phone slip from her grasp. Tears cascade down her cheeks like a waterfall of emotions. Jessica noticed that her phone didn't hit the floor, which was odd, but she couldn't focus on it now. What mattered was the feeling of two comforting hands on her shoulders, an unexpected solace that washed over her. Initially tense, she found herself easing under the soothing touch of her mysterious savior. "J-Just c-close y-your eyes," the soft voice behind her instructed, the words gentle and encouraging. "List a few positive aspects you have going for y-you." Nodding, Jessica obeyed, shutting her eyes tight. She allowed her mind to wander, seeking solace in thoughts of what she had going for her in this meeting of uncertainty. "Jean is safe with David and his family," she whispered, finding reassurance in the safety of her friend. "If Johnny plays her cards right, Grandfather would be at the meeting. As intimidating as I find him, he has more of a diplomatic mindset than my father. He was the one who surprisingly talked my uncle Charlie out of participating in The Blood Hunt." She felt her imagination painting a picture of her and her sister, embraced in the loving arms of a safe home, protected from the shadows that sought to engulf them. As she lets these positive aspects fill her thoughts, Jessica feels a sense of empowerment washes over her. The panic loosens its grip, giving way to comfort and hope. Bella, her enigmatic confidante, waits patiently for Jessica to find her center. The girl with the midnight eyes straightens her posture, feeling stronger now, bolstered by the realization of her inner strength. "You've got this," Bella whispers, her voice like a comforting caress. "Remember, the power is within you." Jessica nods, she smiled, "Thanks, I owe you one. What's your name?" Bella blushed at Jessica's compliment, her eyes cascaded down the floor. Biting her bottom lip she quietly hands Jess her phone back then rushed out the door. Sara 'Motormouth' Houghton caught her running out and pulled her into a hug. "Heya Bella! I saw you slip in there and I want to tell you that it's a good thing you did. I know you keep yourself in your own little bubble and I don't want to intrude or burst it but I want to tell you that you're a valuable employee and I think you are going to do great here. You have the right Shepard attitude and you know how to help people in need like Jessie in there." She parted and held onto her. "You're doing great Bella, alright? This is going to be just like any other day. They're going to talk, they're going to come to peace, and this stupid feud is going to end and you'll be able to look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you played a vital role in making it happen. You're great, Bella, you're great." Jessica leaned out of the door watching them with a smile. (So her name is Bella. That's good to know. I'll send her a Gift Basket later.) Bella managed a nervous smile. The freckled redhead was practically her polar opposite with her boundless energy and ability to just ramble on endlessly until she ran out of things to say or someone stopped herself. It was like a mile a minute with her. She gently removed her hands and then she reached up and patted her cheek gently and ran off to the kitchen with a smile on her face. Sara waved goodbye to her and then turned back around to face Jessica. "Alright, Jess, how are you feeling? Do you need a hug?"

Jessica Brannon I picture her with a few scars on her face, courtesy of Charlie and his family. A shame that she had go through torment like that but she has an entire town of friends and allies to support and help her and her family through any hardships and traumas of the past. Plus she's about to make a new friend with Derrick!

Bella didn't say anything regarding Jess referring her, but her face was about as pink as their uniform shirts though. "She's right you know, that was uncharacteristic of you. We'll get you out of that shell soon enough" Izumi Miyazaki or Izzy as her friends would call her said while she handles a customer at the register. Izzy comes from a Witch species, an all-female race who are descendants of The Fae. Who got the job courtesy of her older sister Katrina Miyazaki, Public Relations Representative of The Student Council, felt that this would help her mingle among the Shepard citizens and rise within the ranks of the council.

It was definitely his first time here. Every tourist got that same look on their face. As she watched him though she couldn't help but blush a little. Sure they'd conversed over the videos but it was her first time seeing him in person. Bella blushed a little but got to work. "I..umm...I just have to help...when I can, you know, this is Shepard, right? We all have to look out for each other and she's my friend too." She started washing some dishes. "Say, uh, how do you think the meeting is going to go?"

If I were in Adonis, Davey Jones, and Furiosa's position I'd have all my best hands ready just in case things go south. And when dealing with Slashers there are a lot of ways this could go south" "I had the exact same reaction when I first arrived here. I wish I can say it takes some getting used to but every now and then this town has a way of surprising you" Jessica joked with Derrick while they walked to the Bifrost Diner. Derrick smiled at that as he helped her by carrying the other cup Jess is holding for her. It was good to see Jess's spirits lifted a little. Especially after everything they went through. "So I take it you're adjusting to the town's customs well?" Jess paused for a moment then nods, "It's nice to actually be someplace and not have people look at you like you've just survived an attack by a wild animal"

I mean, this town is fantastic. I haven't even been here a full day and I'm already blown away by everything." Derrick replied. "This place is a full on melting pot of so many different people and supernatural beings all living in perfect harmony. It's amazing!" "I know, right? Everyone here is just so nice and sweet! Even with our family's rather...checkered past everyone's accepted us here." Jess told him with a smile. "I feel like our family can really turn things around here. And sharing drinks in a diner over peace talks is going to be our next big step forward." "After today our two families will be at peace." Derrick agreed. "No feuding or fear. Just peace and friendship. It's going to be great. Heck, maybe someday you guys could visit Trinity University and I could introduce you to my friends." "Trinity University? In Whitehawk? I heard that place is crazy prestigious." "It is and it's beyond fancy. Really high tech. It's beautiful. You guys would love it." "Sounds like a plan. It would be good to check out a college before graduation." Jess admitted. "Plus we can get in some sight seeing around the city while we're there and hopefully, maybe, catch some of your Vigilante Activities." Derrick paused. "You...know about those?" - - "Don't underestimate the Information Networks of Shepard. They are downright scary." "Apparently. Wow. Talk about impressive." He responded as they reached the Diner. He stepped forward, opened the door and held it open for Jess. "You're a sweetheart." She complimented and walked past him. "So what do you call yourself again? Shade Man?" "Obsidian." Derrick replied. "I figured it was nice and mysterious." "And edgy." Jess joked. "That's...okay that's true." Derrick admitted sheepishly. "Admittedly though I haven't done anything big yet. Just some Street Level Stuff really." They walked to the table and Derrick pulled out a chair for her. She smiled and sat down and Derrick pushed the chair back in and then he sat down across from her and offered his hand. Jess happily shook it.

Jess paused for a moment then nods, "It's nice to actually be someplace and not have people look at you like you've just survived an attack by a wild animal" Sirius strolled back into the coffee shop, the embodiment of a teenage urban fantasy hero. His dark hair fell into his eyes, adding to his mysterious charm. Dressed in the uniform required pink t-shirt and sleek dress pants, he exuded a quirky confidence that drew attention without effort. His mischievous grin hinted at a penchant for trouble, and his sharp wit was always ready to slice through any mundane conversation. "What did we say about eavesdropping?" Izzy shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Elf hearing, luv, can't be helped," Sirius replied with a nonchalant shrug, showing no remorse. "He's kind of right, elves, especially halflings, usually have enhanced hearing," Bella chimed in, offering a somewhat diplomatic explanation for her elven co-worker's eavesdropping tendencies. "Traitor," Izzy muttered flatly, her classic snark on full display, before promptly filling Sirius in on the details of the meeting that is about to occurr. _ With his free hand Derrick placed a comforting hand on Jess's shoulder. "I can't even pretend to know what you've experienced before arriving here and while it was no doubt a nightmare at least you wake up in a town that is a full-on melting pot of so many different people and supernatural beings all living in perfect harmony. The fact that you've managed to fit in speaks volumes on how awesome you are really. Plus, after our meeting, you'd finally be free and have the opportunity to heal and put the past behind you." Also I included a bit of the backstory I posted within the inspiration behind the meeting OOC! Great stuff bro! A big improvement over the other post! Great job! Sirius folded his arms and looked through the window. "So it's finally happening, huh? The big event. The Kings and the others are in position around The Diner so...I don't think we have to worry about any problems. Still...this is up to them. We just have to hope that the talks go well." Izzy rubbed his back. "She's been preparing for this just as heavily as him and we've rehearsed it dozens of times. Plus, everything we've researched about Derrick says that he's a stand up guy who wants peace just as much as Jess and the rest of us. It'll be fine." - "So. Here we are." Derrick said as they settled into their seats. "Yeah. After all this time....uhhh would you like to start?" Jess offered. "If it's cool with you?" "Sure!" "Alright..." Derrick cleared his throat and got started. "I just want you to know...I don't blame you guys for what Thaddeus and his group of idiots did. Or The Conoistre. I mean...the members of The Family that were directly connected to that whole big cannibal cult conspiracy...yeah. Their assassins...yeah. The Jackals...yeah. But they're all gone now. Either dead or locked away for life. You guys and your branch of The Family had nothing to do with that." He paused before continuing. "It's regrettable that we can't change the past, Jess, but we can work together to move forward to a brighter future for both of our families and the others. Tina has told me all about you guys and she has a good eye for people. She's said that you're great people, kind, sweet and caring people and meeting you now, face-to-face, I can see that she was right. You're a good person Jess. So, finally sitting here with you, together, I can see the future ahead of us is a bright one. So!" He gently clapped his hands together and held them tightly together. "Lets move forward. Together. No more fighting. No more gunfights. No more fear. No more bloodshed. Just both of us lighting the path for both families. The Blackburns And The Brannons. Burying our dark past together and only moving towards the light." He finished his speech and held a hand out to Jess. "Now. How do you feel? Feel free to let it all out. You're in a safe place here. Surrounded by everyone who loves you." Derrick told her, referring to everyone inside and outside of The Diner.

Plus, after our meeting, you'd finally be free and have the opportunity to heal and put the past behind you." Jess blushed on the compliment then changed the subject. "So your vigilante activities. What is that like?" Derrick paused. "You...know about those?" "Don't underestimate the Information Networks of Shepard. Note: Hope you don't mind I made a few changes. Introducing a new character and provided a heartwarming moment between Derrick and Jess as the notion of the facial scars was a little glossed over. Also I included a bit of the backstory I posted within the inspiration behind the meeting OOC!
