Kurata Ran lay on the bed with her arms over her chest and her hands clasped together. She was awake but her she was laying still with her eyes closed as she performed her Quintessence Morning Meditations. It was a daily ritual for her now. A way to deal with the lingering trauma of The War. It always came back to her. Every night she tried to sleep the memories of The War came back to her and she found herself reliving it all over again. The battles they fought across the stars, fighting across countless worlds, their victories, their losses, the sacrifices they made, the horrors they witnessed, it left its mark on her. She fought like the devil on the frontlines alongside her brothers and sisters in arms for the liberation of the entire universe and she didn't regret it, she never would, she would always remember all of the good they did and their ultimate victory in liberating the universe...but that didn't mean that it didn't leave its mark on her. Fortunately, Andromeda had taught her a number of coping mechanisms during their time together and The Meditation Exercises were the best ones. She put herself into a meditative state, performed breathing exercises, focused on the greater beauty of the world around her, expanded her mind and let her mind explore happier places around the world. It took time, it always did, but by focusing on all of the greatest parts of humanity and the world she was able to calm her mind down and relax. With her body set to 'Auto-Defense' Mode she was able to let her mind freely walk the Earth and take in its beautiful sites and the joy of the people of her home planet until she calmed back down and returned to her body. Kurata's eyes opened and she sat up, took a deep breath, slowly blew it out and exited her meditative state and lowered her hands. "Ahhhh...okay. That's better." She opened her eyes and stretched as she looked around the motel room she'd booked for herself. It wasn't an overly fancy room, Kurata generally preferred more modest and down to Earth rooms, but it served its purpose for her. She exited her 'Auto-Defense' Mode and sat up and quickly made the bed perfectly followed by walking to the middle of the room, performing a few stretches and then she began her Morning Workouts: A series of intense workouts she learned back during basic training from Dominar Greyhawk designed to push you to your limits and get your blood pumping! Kurata of course would have no problem with these workouts now, due to being a Heavily Augmented Super Soldier, but they were a good way to wake herself up and she could always perform her modified workout plan later. For now she just continued with the workouts for two hours straight before she jumped back up to her feet and posed in front of a mirror before she spent the next hour Shadowboxing and practicing her combat skills. It was a good way to exercise and maintain her skills. She finally finished her three hour workout and lowered her arms as she relaxed. Kurata Ran was finally awake and relaxed and ready to face the day. Kurata removed the tanktop and panties she'd worn to bed with her last night and crossed the room into the bathroom for a nice long relaxing shower. Kurata closed her eyes and let the water rain down upon her as she rested and embraced it. She was muscle. Every inch of her body was rock solid steel with a physique that looked like she was a Greek God carved out of stone and she was damn proud of it. She might've been Genetically And Cybernetically Augmented but that was only after years of putting in the work and training herself to the very peak of physical perfection alongside all of her comrades. Some might consider it Hellish, especially Dominar's Training, but Kurata couldn't help but look back on it with a smile out of sheer respect for Greyhawk and the others. As hard as they were on them there was always that sense of respect and camaraderie with them. They were just one big giant space military family. Even after all this time, Kurata looked back on that chapter of her life with a smile. After she finally finished cleaning off Kurata dried off with a towel and then she walked away into her room again to get dressed. Shortly after she finished getting dressed she heard her communicator beeping. "Oh? Somebody calling me? Go ahead and patch them through!" The Communicator shined a bright shimmering light that took the form of Queen Andromeda herself! "Hey Kurata! How you been?" Kurata immediately straightened up and snapped a salute to her. "Ma'am! I've Been Just Fine Your Highness! Do You Require Assistance?" Andromeda giggled. "Still as professional as always. That's what I like about you. But feel free to relax. This is just a social call." "Oh. Right. Sorry. Reflex." She responded and relaxed and folded her arms behind her back. "But, uh, yeah. Earth. Earth is great. I've been doing alright here. The Meditation Exercises you taught me have been lifesavers."

I've been following some of your exploits down on Earth and you've been making a name for yourself in your travels but I have to question where exactly your destination is." "Yeah, honestly? I don't have one yet. I've just been going where the wind takes me. Every spot and location has been chosen at random and I've been helping people out with their problems."Kurata admitted. "I don't really have a plan or an end goal in mind. I've just been trying to get accustomed to Earth after spending so much of my life in space touring the Universe and exploring other planets." "Finding a planet to settle down on after spending so much of your life fighting across the constellations is a difficult experience for anyone. Even if it is your homeworld. But I think you've found a nice coping mechanism. You're traveling the world and helping people in need just like you've always done. Just remember to take it easy and have some fun with your travels. Visit a beach, smell roses, go on a hike, go to a spa...just...take time for yourself while you're down there, Kurata. Take care of yourself. We both know that you've more than earned it." "Huh...do Earth Spas cater to cyborgs?" "So long as you're a paying customer. The main point of course would be to sit back and relax and take some time out of your day to enjoy yourself." "Hmmm...well, I can't argue with that. In fact there was this one in NewTech City I've been considering visiting. The Rays Of Sunshine Solar Solace Spa." "Good choice! That's a classy one. They've actually been franchising out into space lately and I managed to schedule a visit to one of them. It was so relaxing. You really have to try it. Just sit back and treat yourself, old friend, you won't regret it." "Alright, alright, you've convinced me. I'll try to take some time for me when I can." She responded with a smile to the Queen. "How about you? How's space been?"

"So we must remain vigilant. I know. Trust me, we're as strong as ever. We're still putting the new recruits through their paces and maintaining a steady military just in case. Ash even has Carina sitting on the classes now. For right now though? We're focusing on rebuilding and keeping the peace." "Little Carina, huh? And how is our little Jungle Ninja holding up?" "She's doing great. Better than great even! You'd be proud to see how much she's grown. Actually, she's here with us right now. Would you like to say hello?" Andromeda offered. "I'd love to! It's been too long since we last saw each other." Kurata responded.

It's been too long since we last saw each other." Kurata responded. "Excellent. Give me a moment and I'll patch her through. Ajalitrak!" "Ajalitrak." The hologram briefly faded out and then came back on a moment later to reveal Carina. She's grown up a lot since Kurata had last seen her. She'd blossomed into a beautiful young lady with the well trained muscles one would expect from training with a warrior of Ash's caliber. While she'd clearly been hardened after all of her training and experiences but her eyes still had the same sense of innocence that illuminated every room she walked into. She smiled at the Super Soldier. "Kurata! It's been far too long! You're looking great!" Carina greeted her. "16 Cycles Old now by the way so not so little." "My apologies Ensign Carina. I appreciate the compliments and you're looking great as well." "Thanks a lot, Kurata. I've even got some good news! I'm doing some additional training to join The Spec-Ops Infantry!" "Hey that's great! Which Division?" "The Sentinel Division. The Mirage Squadron." "The Ghosts." "That's it! That's them! You know them?" "Our Divisions served together in the war. Be sure to ask them about Operation Golden Phantom on Alpha Omega Wondikar 154 when you get the clearance." "Military Rules, huh?" "Yeah there are some things we aren't allowed to talk about. You'll get used to it...or you can just ask Andromeda. Hard to find any higher clearance than that." Carina laughed. "Gotta love those loopholes!" "The benefits of making friends with the higher-ups." Kurata joked. The two shared a laugh before Kurata's expression turned more serious. "By the way...have you decided on whether or not you're getting Augmentations?" "I have. I thought long and hard about it and honestly? I'm leaning towards turning them down. Maybe, at best, some slight enhancements if even that but...not the full makeover. No offense to you or the others' "Don't worry about. None taken." "I just don't think I'll really need them. I've trained all this time just as myself and I've been doing just fine with Ash's training. Why would I need them?" "You're right. You can kick intergalactic space-ass without needing to cyberize yourself. You're fine just the way you are Carina." "Thanks again, Kurata. Do you ever regret it?" "Nah. I knew what I was signing up for and the Augments made protecting and serving to bring peace throughout the galaxy easier. But I understand they aren't for everyone. You're going to do just fine just the way you are."

"Oh it's great here! Earth's still trailing behind some of the planets we've seen but they've advanced a lot. Cities around the world have grown a lot and if they aren't rocking the futuristic advanced aesthetic they're looking like beautiful resorts. More toned down towns like Ferncombe, where I'm at now, are less common and even this place is beautiful. There's still a lot of Monster Attacks but they're used to that and there's enough Ranger Teams out there now that it's basically under control and Japan has The Riders so they're covered." Kurata explained. "The Riders? Like The Edenoian Masked Riders?" "Yeah. Earth's been developing their own versions of them, whether with Alien Technology or otherwise, and they're primarily involved with protecting Japan but they're known to venture outwards." "Cooool. That'll be fun to research. What else? Is SPD as prominent as we've heard?" "Yes. Space Patrol Delta either has bases in different cities or outreach centers focused on assisting Spacians with integrating to Earth and living their lives on Earth."

The War took a lot out of everyone but that's why we remain vigilant. To prevent such horrors from ever rising up again. We're not just going to sit on our butts and rest on our laurels. We'll make the Universe a better place to live in and make sure its never repeated. The path you're following is a noble one Carina. Never apologize for that. Focus on the path in front of you and follow Ash and Andromeda's lead and they won't steer you wrong. After all, it's going to be the new generation that'll inherit the age of peace we're laying out for them and if you're leading that group? I think we'll be just fine." Carina wiped her eyes and gave her a big wide smile. "You know something, Carina? You really should be a motivational speaker." "I'm just speaking from experience and my nanomachine infused heart. But thank you so much." "You're welcome, Kurata. Thanks again." "I know the effects war has on people, Carina, and I know what people who've been through it need to hear. Be sure to take time for yourself and your own mental health out there." "Yeah. I will. Thank you." "Anytime." Carina did a few more stretches and took in everything Kurata told her before she continued. "Hey, so, is it okay if I ask you something else?" "Go right ahead." "Alright, cool, so, forgive me if this comes off too personal, buuut...did it hurt?" "The Procedure?" "Yeah." Kurata shrugged. "Well, without getting into the nitty-gritty details of it all...I remember feeling a certain sense...of shall we say, extreme discomfort during the Genetic Augmentations but we were trained to be able to shut out pain. After that it was just letting out bodies adjust for a while. That part of it was also rather uncomfortable. As for The Cybernetic Surgeries....I couldn't tell ya. We were, rather mercifully, put under the whole time." She admitted. "There was another adjustment period after we woke up as we trained to get used to operating with our new bodies but other than that...no. No real pain. While it's true that we can never go back, we all knew what we were signing up for and trained for and we all took that leap."

"I'm a wealth of information, Carina. Ask away." "Is it okay for you to be telling me all of this?" "Eh, if they didn't want me telling you this much they'd let me know." Kurata noted and pointed at her eyes. "But you're one of us, and you can ask her Royal Highness for access to information anyway, so it's all good." (So I see. Even after retirement they're listening in on and keeping an eye on their Augments. I guess that makes sense to ensure that nobody goes rogue but it's still a bit creepy. I'll have to remember to try and take our conversation into the mental plane next time so we can have complete privacy. Thanks for telling me that, Carina.) "Thanks a lot, Kurata. It's nice to know that you guys trust me that much." "You earned it. Remember that." "Thanks. I will." Kurata gently clapped her hands together. "Sooo...anything else?" "Hmmm....out of curiosity...how expensive are your augments and have you ever had to replace limbs?" Kurata laughed. "Ohhhhh maaaaan. You know? They told me not to ask how much each Procedure costed? But if I was to give you a rough estimate...I'd say either Hartford Level Expensive or probably even Khrysos Level. Really high up there!" She joked. "Ahhh for your second question...yes. Yeah, it's one of the benefits of Cyberization. You can replace a lost limb with another one. The nanotech smooths over the rest. Generally speaking, so long as your wounds aren't completely fatal, the self-repair systems can keep you going at least until you make it back to repairs." She summarized. "Things like that happened during the war but we kept right on trucking. I know I lost my old right arm during the Creumugawa-X Battle. The Nanotech closed off the wound and my systems dialed down the pain so I could keep going. I reported back to the lab after we won the battle and got a new one installed. I had to hand it to The Baroness: She was one of the very few people to damage me that badly in the war." Kurata told her with a smile. While she was joking now, especially since it worked out in the end, the truth remained that Baroness Astoria Solstice had come uncomfortably close to killing her and that was not something Kurata admitted to easily. She ultimately managed to defeat her but the damage was severe enough that she had to finish the mission while still repairing herself and needed some time to rest after the battle to mentally recover before she went back out into the field on their next mission. "I'm sorry if I brought up a bad memory." "I appreciate the empathy, it's always been one of your finest traits Carina, don't ever let yourself think otherwise, but it's all good. I'm the one who brought it up and that battle's old news anyway. So lets move on to a more interesting topic: How's your training with Ash progressing?"

Carina laughed, "Ironically empathy is one of the key things that my Dominar teaches me. He mentioned that it's one of the new Venturi teachings he seeks to incorporate because the old teachings used to be that we should not be empathetic." she contemplates on mentioning that's one of the reasons why Ash's Dominar fell. Fortunately, Ash managed to save him in the end.

Fortunately, Ash managed to save him in the end. "That's good to hear. If anybody is fit to rework their ancient teachings it would be Ash. He's not just one of the greatest swordsmen in the Universe but he's also one of the wisest. It's why we listened to his tactical advice so often." "I know, right? Operation White Citadel was primarily his plan and that strategy is going down in the Historical Records!" "Like I said: A Master Tactician. Be sure to lean into those teachings, Carina, they are the key to The Quintessence. When individuals stand together and for each other, that becomes a powerful force that can overcome any challenges, conflicts or adversities that they may encounter in life." "That's the philosophy of The Venturi and it's carried them to victory through the ages! Andromeda's always said that tapping into that kind of power saved her and everyone else multiple times in the war." "And she's telling the truth. Trust me, the stories about Andromeda do her justice but she is absolute magic to witness in person." - - "You, her and Ash are some of the most derseviams soldiers in space." Carina complimented her. "Wow. Putting me in the same category as the two legends. I appreciate the compliments. Galition!" " Kufflon!" She responded cheerfully. "And hey you deserve it for all the work you put into saving the Galaxy alongside us. I just hope I can stand alongside you and the others as a legend in my own right." "Just keep putting in the work and you'll stand above us all one day." Kurata assured her and Carina's subsequent smile illuminated the room around Kurata even more. "You're welcome kiddo. Anything else I can help you with?"
