It felt like a fantasy. With Christmas just around the corner, the staff at Shepard Academy had thought it would be a good idea to hold a dance, open not only to their students but also to the young adults of the town. I had found out about all this through my mother, a close friend of one of the women who headed the school's parent committee, and I had dropped it on Willow only a few days ago.



Until now, I had never had the opportunity to go to a ball like this, perhaps because, when it was my time, I had no one to accompany me. It wasn't that I cared at that moment, I had a lot going on with my mother's agency and I still had a lot to learn.

Note: To all you superhero fans out there. I just unintentionally did a crossover pairing with Zack from the Power Rangers remake and Lana Lang from Smallville. Have fun with that.

My heart feels like it is about to burst out of my chest, Xenomorph style, and I wipe my hands on my blue jeans in an effort to keep them from sweating. The school usually do a throwback theme for the Yuletide Dance and the throwback for this year is a 1950's theme. Between my slicked back hair and black leather jacket I look like a 1950's greaser. Izzy convinced me that it's a nice change of scenery.

I put my meditation sessions with my Godmother to good use by reminding myself that it's just an evening with someone I've come to know as a good friend. And who has had my back in countless cases that we've done together.
