Noah unlocked the door and the family walked inside and set their bags down. The house might be empty but it had pop like the exteriors and what interiors they glimpsed through the windows on their drive into town. It almost looked like the inside of a candy store! The carpeting was a light pink, the kitchen island and countertops were a light shade of blue, the light blue and white checkered tiles brought another layer to the surreal almost dreamlike aspect of the house. It was topped off by fluffy pink rugs here and there in the living room and blank white wallpaper. Colt ran into the house and began performing backflips. After a series of three of them he landed on his feet. "WOOOOH! This place is awesome! Empty and barren at the moment but we'll fill it up!" "It's certainly bright and cheery. I'm going to need Gothify my room ASAP to find peace." "We'll discuss your bedroom's style after we move everything in honey." Gemma informed her daughter. "Glad you kids are enjoying it so far! Come on, we'll give you the grand tour!" Noah pointed straight ahead as the family walked forwards. "Straight ahead is the Living Room, to the Left is the Kitchen." He explained while guiding the others across the house, past the living room and into the currently wide open kitchen without tables or refrigerators and with the shelve and pantries empty. "Around the corner you'll find a bathroom." He guided them around the corner and opened the door to reveal an empty bathroom. "So. Bathroom Number One is right here!" He guided them out and around the corner back across the living room to a staircase. "Up here you'll find our second floor bedrooms." Noah informed them once more and walked up the staircase with his family to guide them upstairs where they rounded the corner and were met by a set of double doors and a door on the left and right. The second floor bedrooms. Noah opened the doors to reveal the bedroom that they would be staying in and then they checked the rooms off to the sides. The parents bedroom was much larger than the other two which were likely meant as guest rooms. The family explored the second floor a bit more and looked around the windows before ascending to the third floor, exploring that and the panic room and the roof exit before returning downstairs to the first floor, walking past the staircase and into the grand dining room with open bar, then they explored the storage room, Noah's office and finally descended to the wide open and expansive basement which was designed with comfort in mind. All in all it was a nice fancy house despite being empty at the moment. Once they got their furniture and settled in they'd be right at home. "Okay I still think this town looks weird, and this house too, but I think I'll settle in once I style my room." Charlotte settled while sitting down on the floor. Colt relaxed against his own bag. "I like it! It's cool! We should really make this place as bright and fancy as we can. Especially Char's room. I'm thinking giving her room a bubblegum pink color." "Try it and I'll bury you." "I'll just come back as an Undead Zombielord and take over the world." "Zombies are wimps, bro, just cap them in the brainpan and it's over." "Charlotte can choose her own wallpaper color, Colt, just like you." Gemma informed the kids. "You don't need to choose right away either. We've got plenty of time." "Midnight Black." Charlotte replied immediately. " Like my soul!" "Told you she was a demon!" "You could see the world the way I do if you were not a sheep." "A Lion in Sheep's clothing!" "Keep telling yourself that Nala." "Get your eyes checked Pumbaa." The two siblings started grappling with each once more until their parents separated them. "That's enough, that's enough, relax kids, this is a new house, a brand new home, a new fresh start, lets start it off right, okay? Come on." Noah walked over a cooler, popped it open and took out drinks for his family and handed them off one by one to his family. "Come on now! To our new home!" "TO OUR NEW HOME!" The family repeated and drank. After enjoying their break and setting their bags down in their rooms they walked back outside to finish unpacking the car. As they were taking the last of their belongings out of the car so Noah could park it in the garage they heard a voice call out to them. "Hey hey! Are you guys new in town?" A young lady called out to them. "Looks like you have a lot of stuff there. You want any help with it?" The pair walked up to them. A short-haired African American Girl wearing a blue and white striped t-shirt and jeans and blue tennis shoes and a light skinned young man with short brown hair worn in a bowl cut with glasses and a red shirt with dark blue jeans and black tennis shoes of his own. "Well hi there! I'm Colt Knight! This is my sister Charlotte. We are literally right in the process of moving in!" Colt informed them and jogged over to the two. "In that case let me be the first to welcome you guys to Evermore!" The Glasses guy greeted Colt and his family. "I'm Milo. Milo Hamilton. It's great to see new faces in town." "I'm Veora Burton. What Milo said. Trust me, Evermore takes some getting used to but once you're all settled in and used to it, the town will really grow on you." "It's certainly unique. I felt like we were walking into Candyland. But anyway it's nice to meet you both." Charlotte walked up to the pair next. "Hello. I'm Charlotte. Call me Char, everyone does, but my true identity is Her High Exalted Majesty Unburnt Mother Of Dragons Breaker Of Chains SableEternity." "Oh man we have got to get you into our Drama Club....Drama...and Philosophy. You are a philosopher, right? You've got air to you, Char." Veora replied with a laugh while shaking her hand. “All things are subject to interpretation. Whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.” "Nietzsche. Nice. Try this one: “Time in itself, absolutely, does not exist; it is always relative to some observer or some object. Without a clock I say 'I do not know the time'. Without matter time itself is unknowable. Time is a function of matter; and matter therefore is the clock that makes infinity real.” "John Fowles!" "Yeah!" They high-fived. "Oh man I like this girl! I have got to show you the library! We can debate all day there!" "Sold! So do you guys wanna help us out?" "Sure!" They walked back to the car while Colt just shook his head. "I'm glad she's already making friends but I'm not sure I can handle two of her." "Don't worry about it, bro, Veora is cool." Milo assured him. "I'm just saying, at the end of the day, we have yet to see satisfactory evidence that we are not, in fact, brains in jars. Hume's problem of induction more than just an epistemological problem for science. We have no reason to believe our experiences correlate to actual phenomena in the world and thus much less reason to believe that the world writ large actually exists as we perceive it to be. We think therefore we are but where are we? What are we? Keeps you up at night doesn't it?" Veora asked. "Oh girl I get you! If one considers the probability of our current situation as self-aware entities embedded in an organized environment, versus the probability of stand-alone self-aware entities existing in a featureless thermodynamic "soup", then the latter should be vastly more probable than the former if both scenarios are to be created out of random fluctuation. The catch of course is that a functioning brain in a jar would be surprisingly difficult to accomplish in real life, at least without major personality changes — to the point of possibly no longer having a recognizably human outlook — since any number of hormonal and even metabolic functions performed in other parts of the body contribute significantly to brain function." Charlotte sighed dramatically. "These are the things that keep me up at night but such questions matter! It's not about whether or not they have a practical difference or not because the sun will still rise and animals will continue to breathe regardless. It's about understanding the absurdity of our own existence, and by doing that accepting the fact that we will never know what's really up or if what we do has meaning or not. That's the reason why some might turn to religion, others might try to create their own meaning and others might become nihilistic, etc..." "Sisters, huh?" "Don't even get me started man. I've tried reminding her that we're all plugged into The Matrix but she just keeps rejecting it." Colt responded to Milo "That's too simple of an answer and you know it! It's ridiculous!" "How is that any more ridiculous than your brain theory?" "Because none of us are running around wearing leather and shooting guns like lunatics!" "Pffft. Just because you couldn't rock the leather outfits doesn't mean I can't." "Oh please I'm already dressed primarily in black so I'm still ahead of you!" "Whatever you say, Trinity." "Still cooler than Cypher." The siblings continued joking around with each other and their new friends as they carried in the family's belongings to meet with Gemma and Noah Knight. "Well hello there!" "Hi! Are you guys new in town?" "We just moved in today actually." "In that case please allow us to be the first to welcome you to Evermore! I'm Milo and this is my good friend Veora!" "Hiya! I hope you don't mind us lending you a hand. Colt and Charlotte are both really nice and we decided to help them out." "Well aren't you two just so sweet? Alright! If you're willing to help us out then we'll bring you onboard! The more the merrier!" "Well great! Lets do this!" They assisted the Knights with moving their bags and belongings out of the car and into the house and then sat back down with them while Noah drove the car into the garage while they waited for the moving company. They didn't have to wait for long before the giant moving truck rolled up on their driveway and Owen Hamilton leaned out of the window and waved to them. "Hey there Knights! Sorry for the wait! This place is completely off the beaten path and it's a maze in here!" "Not a problem Owen, you're right on time! Welcome to Evermore! You guys want some help moving our stuff out of there?" "Grant you mercy f'r the off'r, Sir Knight, but mine own men and I shall carryeth thy belongings into the house while thee relaxeth!" "Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?" Colt whispered to his sister. ""Ye hae ne'er glympsed a hatte whych be as grimm as yonder hatte ye glympse upon." She whispered back as the back of the moving truck slid up and a walkway slid down and the moving company began carrying everything inside while the Knights and their friends sat back and waited. Miss Isabel Wells hummed and whistled to herself while she walked her adorable Beagle puppy named Peanut down the sidewalk while smiling and waving to people she saw everyday while Peanut wagged her tail and she hopped around as she saw her friends. It was a standard normal beautiful cheerful day here in Evermore until Peanut started barking and yanking at her leash while wagging her tail rapidly. "Peanut? Peanut what's wrong?" Miss Wells asked as she got her under control and pulled her back and then she looked back up and down the sidewalk to see the moving truck and the people outside. "Oh how cute! We must have new neighbors! Lets go say hi! But take it easy, seriously." She giggled and walked down the sidewalk until she hit that fateful crack in the sidewalk and took a bad spill to the floor which resulted in the leash slipping out of her hand and Peanut taking off like a bullet to go greet the new people with a big wide doggy smile on her face and rapidly wagging tail. "OOF! Owww...well that wasn't fun...Peanut? PEANUT NO STOP!" Colt heard her screams and ran next to the truck and crouched down to grab the runaway puppy. She almost ran past him but he managed to grab her but above him the straps on the Piano the movers were pulling out of the truck snapped and the movers feet wobbled and the piano slipped off of the truck! "OH MY GOD! COLT MOVE!" Charlotte screamed and began running towards her brother. "COOOOLT!" Gemma shrieked. "NO!" Noah shouted and began running towards him alongside Milo and Veora. Colt looked up at it but he didn't have time to move out of the way as the 1,200 lb Grand Piano fell towards him. A sudden gust of wind washed over them and a loud banging sound echoed down the street. Colt flinched and fell down while still clutching the puppy to his chest but when he regained his senses he discovered that....he was fine! He was completely fine! They both were! The piano must have missed them! Wait...where WAS the piano? He blinked and sat up as he saw the young girl in the black shirt and jeans with her short black hair in a bob. What was utterly blowing his mind though was that the young girl was literally HOLDING THE PIANO OVERHEAD! With both hands and her fingers spread out and the piano in her hands she was holding a 1,200 lb Piano with ease! "Don't worry, new kid, I've got you covered!" "I-I...what? Y-You've got me? Who's got you?!" The rest of the family assembled around them and Charlotte helped Colt up while Miss Wells ran up behind them. Milo and Veora walked next to them and Veora breathed a sigh of relief. "Ho damn, close one there, close one for sure, but you always know how to make a dramatic entrance don't you? Eh Clementine?" Clementine continued to hold up the piano until the movers took it off her hands and they took it back down on the truck and assembled to move it carefully while Owen ran up next to them. "HOLY SHIT! IS EVERYONE HERE OKAY?" Clementine lowered her arms and rolled them. "Ahhh, that's a load off. Is everybody okay?" Now that Colt could see her clearly she was quite cute with a cute freckled face and beautiful fair skin and icy blue colored eyes. He also noticed her black T-Shirt with the words ' This Is My HUMAN Disguise I'm Really An Alien' emblazoned on the shirt with big white and green letters. "I...you...we....wow. That was...wow. That was amazing! H-how did you do that? Who are you?" "Oh yes, forgive my manners: The name's Clementine Kane and Farmwork's my game! Fitness is life you know!" "WOAH! THAT'S AMAZING! So Farm work lets you lift pianos?!" "Well, you know, the doctor says I've got those LRP 5 and Myostatin mutations and I'm working on the farm with bales of hay, pigs, bags, digging trenches, stuff like that. So yeah you put it all together and I can handle a piano." "THAT'S INCREDIBLE! THANK YOU SO MUCH CLEMENTINE! YOU'RE MY HERO!" "Ohhh I was just in the area. I was actually pretty close by and I saw what was happening and I ran over to help." She turned around to look down at the piano's straps. "Although it was weird that the straps just broke like that. You guys really should take better care of those." She commented and returned her attention to Colt. "But anyway it all worked out, didn't it, Wittle Peanut?" She asked and began gently petting the puppy. "Oh thank God for you, Clementine!" Isabel exclaimed. "You're a life saver! How can we ever repay you? Oh my God! Both Peanut and the kid are fine! You're a miracle worker!" "Yeeeaaahhh...how did Peanut get loose anyway?" Colt asked. "I'm sorry, I had a bad trip and Peanut got loose. I'm so sorry." Charlotte sighed with relief and hugged her brother. "Well it all worked out and my brother and the puppy are both okay. Amen, hallelujah, peanut butter, right? I'm the type that's full in on philosophical stuff but right now? I'm just happy you're alright bro." "Thanks sis." Colt replied while hugging her back. Gemma dashed forward and began eagerly shaking her hands vigorously with both hands. "OH MY GOD! THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! YOU SAVED MY SON THANK YOU OH SO MUCH! YOU'RE AN ANGEL!" Clementine just laughed. "Oh you know, I was in the area. Really, anybody would have done the same thing. I mean...I don't know if they would've caught the piano but they would've gotten the two out of the way at least, right? Really, think nothing of it." "That's impossible! You just saved our son! Please, let us repay you however we can!" Noah insisted. "Heh, don't worry, really, Heroes act without thought of glory or reward. Accolades are a consequence, not a goal. Still, if you guys want to come over for dinner sometime we'll be happy to have you." "That sounds lovely. Where do you live? Apologies but we're new around here." "Clementine Farm. It's on the outside of town but it's not too hard to find. You can always use Scout but I'll write it down if you want." "That's great. Please, come inside, all of you, lets talk." "Great! Hey you guys got this right?" "Uhhh y-yeah, yeah, we've got the rest." "Cool." Veora put an arm around Clementine. "You really are this town's Guardian Angel you know that? Anytime somebody needs help you're always right there when we need you." "Just lucky I guess."

Since the furniture was still being moved into the house the group just sat on the floor and what chairs were available. Clementine let Veora have a chair and casually relaxed on the floor. She was a farm girl so she didn't even mind. "So why don't you kids tell us about yourselves?" Gemma asked them. "Well, Clem? You're the lady of the hour, why don't you start us off?" "Are you really an alien?" Colt questioned. Clementine pulled on her shirt. "You betcha! Born in space and raised on Earth! I've been living it up here in Evermore for my whole life and it's the greatest place ever! I'm living the farm life too for real. I wake up, do my stretches, get dressed in my grub clothes and then I go around doing farm stuff. Slopping the hogs, cleaning up after the animals, milking, topping up hays and waters, gardening, putting in posts, stuff like that. We farm pretty much everything so our days are plenty busy even when I'm not at school." "Oh my! That sounds like a lot of hard work!" "It can be but it's worth it in the end for everyone to help with our products. Besides, we've got the fastest plowers and harvesters around so it's easier than it sounds." "That's our Clementine. She'll do anything for anybody. You know she once pushed a bus out of the lake?" Veora asked them. "Allegedly!" Clementine quickly reminded her. "I mean, come on, I can lift a piano but a school bus would weigh a lot more than a piano!" Charlotte patted her leg a few times while she began calculating it in her head. "Uhhhmmm, so, this school bus, was it underwater dry or filling up?" "Underwater and filling up." Milo informed them. "Hmmmm, okay, so, well, a US "short" school bus has a kerb weight of approximately 10 tonnes, assuming that the bus was around 90% filled with water and assuming it has an internal volume of 7-10,000 gallons, average human density is within a few percent of the density of water (985kg/m^3 for a person versus 1000kg/m^3 for pure water or 1020kg/m^3 for seawater), so the volume of the humans in the bus can be ignored, they can be treated as if they were water, We can add an additional .1 of a tonne for stowage and .1 of a tonne of fuel, and assuming the seats filled with water or not we're looking at an approximate weight of...46-54 tons!" "46-54 tons." Colt finished at the same as his sister. Milo, Veora, Isabel, Clementine and the Knights applauded their children. "Stop trying to steal my thunder!" Charlotte scolded her brother. "Never!" He shot back. "My little baby brainiacs!" Gemma cheered and ran over and hugged them both. "That's mighty impressive kids. I'm proud of you for taking your studies seriously." Noah complimented the kids. "Awwww guuuyyys!" The group shared a laugh before Clementine continued. "But yeah, as you can see, simple arithmetic tells us that lifting a whole bus out of the water with your bare hands would be essentially impossible. Even with the world's biggest adrenaline rush. It would be impossible. Really it was just a lucky break." "Yeah, well, someone would've had to rip the rear door off." "Who knows? Miracles like that happen from time to time. You hear about that train being stopped by a statue?" "The Whale Statue in The Netherlands, right?" Milo asked Clementine. "Yeah, precisely! Miracles like that happen from time to time. You know what they say, don't look a gift horse in the mouth! Mmmm-hmmm!" Clementine opened her drink and took a sip. "Oh this is good! So who wants to go next?"

Clementine just laughed. Anytime somebody needs help you're always right there when we need you." "Just lucky I guess." Since the furniture was still being moved into the house the group just sat on the floor and what chairs were available. So who wants to go next?" "Before that, how exactly did the bus end up in the water?" "It wasn't pretty." Veora informed them. "There'd been a cold front, snow came in, we got some snow days for a bit but school had to start back up again eventually. They thought it would be safe...but when they were driving over the bridge to get to school, it turned out to be slicker than they thought. Despite the driver's best efforts, a tire blew out, there was a sudden collision and the bus went careening over the edge. Into the ice below, broke through it and plunged into the water." She explained. "People were getting out of their cars, several of them even preparing to dive into the water after them, I know because....I was in my dad's car and I saw him preparing to do just that...but then...I heard something. Another crash behind us while everybody was staring at the hole in the ice. I got out of my car, stumbled across the ice, and looked over the other side of the bridge but I only saw a hole in it." She continued. "Before I could try to figure that out though the bus resurfaced from the ice, broke through it and slid itself back up onto the bank. The back of it broke off..." "Or was torn off judging by the marks found on it later." Milo interjected. "Right! Causing the water to come spilling out! Everybody inside was really wet and cold but they were alive." Veora continued. "Everybody present ran down there to help them the best they could while ambulances were called. Which brings me toooooo...." Veora pointed at Clementine. "You were the only one present besides everybody in the bus who was soaking wet at the time while everybody else up on the bridge was dry but you weren't even cold! Coincidence?" "Yeah. I tripped on the way down and took a tumble through the snow which was I looked wet, I wasn't overly cold because I had my winter clothes on and I'm used to working in the elements on the farm." Clementine explained to her casually. "Besides, look at my arms, I've got definition but even these pythons couldn't lift a bus. They'd break right off." Milo patted Veora on the back and she huffed. "Fine, you win this round, but that bus got up out of the water somehow and I'll find the real explanation one day!" "I'm sure you will V, I'm sure you will, now then! Who's next?"

"Hey Charlotte, how about you?" "Oh, me? Us? Well, the truth of the matter is, we've been through a lot. You know, a lot of stuff happened to us back home and we decided to get ourselves a fresh start, somewhere new and fresh, and we knew that Evermore would be the perfect place to restart our lives." "It would take too long to explain and a lot of it is personal but we can tell you about our five star hotel experience!" Colt suggested. "Colt!" Gemma spoke up and shook her head. "Oh right, sorry, that was kind of intense." "Did something bad happen?" Clementine questioned. "Did somebody try to hurt you guys?" Noah stood up. "Don't worry about it, it's been taken care of and it's in the past and it's not the kind of thing you talk about on the first day. Now come on! This is a momentous day! A day full of fun and heroism! A day of new beginnings! Alright? So I'm going to crack open the cooler and give you kids some cold ones! Sodas of course. You're all far too young for drinking, got it?" "Yes sir!" The kids replied. Although Clementine couldn't help but notice the smirk on Charlotte's face. That was the look of someone who had definitely snuck some booze behind her parent's back at least once. She would keep quiet about that but she would talk to her about something else. Clementine also stood up and walked over to them. "Guys, listen, I won't push about what happened in your past. Just know that Evermore is a safe place to start over. Everyone is really nice and they'll have your back if anybody tries to mess with you. So will I." Charlotte's normal beautiful smile returned. "Thank you Clementine. That means a whole lot." "Happy to help. It's what I live for." Shortly after the group were sipping soda's together in what would become the future living room. "So. Basically. Evermore is a gorgeous place to live. It's not massive like New York or Vegas or some big shot theme park, it's more like something you'd see in a picture frame, but there's a whole lot to see here and we would love to show you guys around town. But you have so much work to do, right? So here's my proposal." Clementine sipped her soda before she continued. "We'll help you guys unpack and then we can give the kids the ground tour. Sound fair?" "Oh! Oh, no, there's so many of them we can't possibly ask you to help us with all of that after all you've done already." "Hey don't worry about it. Like I said: Helping people is what I live for." Clementine assured them. "Besides we don't have anything better to do." Milo reasoned. "We're already here and sharing drinks together right? So lets welcome you to the town." "Consider this your Welcoming Party." Veora responded. "Well mom? Can we? Can we?" "Well....it would speed things up. What do you think, Noah?" "I'm in. Lets start building good relations with our new neighbors here and now." "Then it's settled: Lets Get Unpackin'!"

Lets start building good relations with our new neighbors here and now." "Then it's settled: Lets Get Unpackin'!" The unpacking of the belongings went smoothly thanks to Clementine's assistance. Primarily her ability to casually stack up boxes on top of each other and then she just picked them up and carried them off together to wherever they pointed her to. It didn't matter how packed they were, it didn't matter how big they were, she just picked them up like they were nothing! Clementine was carrying stacked up boxes when the rest of the family was carrying one or two boxes! She was even carrying them up the stairs with startling ease. She only really needed help with anything that was too unwieldy for one person to carry. Even then she was holding up her end like it was a pillow or a stuffed animal. They would be setting down the boxes in their designated rooms and Clementine would already be running right back to the living room for her next boxes. The Knight Family finished their unpacking and getting set up in record time. The Knight Family sat down to rest after all of the unpacking and Clementine was just giggling to herself like they'd just been playing around instead of moving what should've been heavy boxes all morning. "Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! That was fun! Do you have anything else to lift?" She asked them. "No, it's all taken care of, but, seriously Clementine, what exactly are you?" Charlotte questioned. "I'm a farmgirl of course." "Of course but what kind of work are you doing on that farm that you have muscles like that?" "Trust us, she does stuff like this all the time. You get used to it." Milo assured them. "We're pretty sure that she was secretly dosed with the Super Soldier Serum." Veora quipped. " Well that checks out." The Knight Siblings noted. "Hey, you won't catch us complaining. Thank you. You kids seriously helped us out. We're grateful to you." Noah informed the kids. "Seriously, if there's anything they can do to repay you, please, by all means, let us know." "You don't have to worry about that. Helping people is its own reward." Clementine responded. "But hey, if everything's all set up can we go ahead and give Colt and Charlotte a tour through the town?" "Can we go, Mom?" Colt asked his mother. "Can we? Can we?" Charlotte questioned her father in turn. The two siblings continued their parents in perfectly synchronized voices until they relented. "Alright, alright, you can go but keep your phones on and ringing and keep in touch with us, okay? We'll be checking in regularly through the day and don't get lost. Remember your way home and stay away from anyone weird." Noah reminded the kids. "You got it dad! Thank you!" "This is going to be so much fun!" Clementine hopped up and dusted off her hands. "Ohhhh I can't wait! You guys are going to love it here!"
