Eve’s blood boiled. Without thinking twice, she spit in the ghoul’s face. The glob of spit might have passed through a normal ghost, but Lord Price was physical enough that it hit his cheek.
"You are a vile, abusive, fraction of a human being. I would never join the likes of you!"
The floor under her feet shook. Eve screamed when the floor pulled at her feet. Whatever had immobilized her had faded.
“Since you’ve refused to be mine willingly, I’ll just have to take you by force.”
That was Eve's incentive to get the hell out of there. She kicked at the floorboards and ran for a barely visible door.
Gabriel glanced up as they and Izzy navigated the dimly lighted corridor. The scant light barely penetrated the darkness, but Gabriel’s vampire senses easily cut through the gloom.
“What’s wrong?” Izzy whispered.
Gabriel's voice was taut. “Our case just got more intense, Iz. Eve is alone with the person responsible for all of this.”
Izzy's face, already pale, seemed to lose what little color it had left. “Oh...kay. So what now?”
“We find Eve, then track down David. With luck, he’s found the kid by now. Can you handle this?” Gabriel's tone sharpened as their heightened senses picked up the sound of Eve’s frantic footsteps echoing through the ancient walls.
“Daughter of the Winter Court, Gabe. Darkness is my element,” Izzy replied, her voice steady yet edged with concern. “I get how you’re feeling, but Eve isn’t the only one in a tight spot.”
Izzy motioned ahead, and in the distance, a hulking silhouette emerged. The creature was massive, crowned with jagged horns. Its roar split the air, making the ground tremble beneath their feet.
Gabriel’s eyes glowed with an eerie electric blue light. “You slow him down. I’ll finish him.”
“Totally,” Izzy snarled, venom lacing her words as the beast charged.
“Let’s get to work,” Gabriel said, drawing two small, wickedly sharp blades from their sleeves.
Note: Angel shout out up in here! Although they're more like Spike.

David slammed his shoulder against the cellar door for a third time. It crumbled under his weight and he fell into the parlor. There was a large staircase in front of him, but not a door behind him. Neither a cellar door nor a front door.
“Stop messing around. Come on.”
David turned to look at the voice. Nothing. He was certain a voice had come from that direction.
As David stared, a faint blue outline shimmered and took on a visible form. A child’s ghost.
This house was haunted by the ghosts of children.
“Who are you?”
“No time. Let’s go get your friends.”

David gets to slay the dragon! Izzy-bean and Gabriel are going to tear that monster apart and turn its bones into their new weapons! Hey, waste not want not. The ghost jerk better watch his words. That's the kind of attitude that results in you getting banished to hell at best or even wiped out of existence! I love how they're still refusing to give up too. This is undoubtably a complete nightmare to be in but they never stop fighting against it even once. Nerves of steel!

Gabriel looked up while he and Izzy traversed the long, shadowy hall. The scant light was insufficient for human eyes, but Gabriel's vampire biology allowed him to navigate the darkness with ease.
"What's wrong?" Izzy asked, her voice a whisper against the oppressive silence.
"Our case just got even more intense, Iz. Eve is alone with the person responsible for all of this."
Izzy's face, already pale, seemed to lose the last remnants of its color. "Oh...kay. So what now?"
"We find Eve, then David. Hopefully, he's found the kid by now. Can you manage in this?" An edge crept into his voice as his vampire hearing caught the faint sound of Eve's footsteps echoing through the floorboards.
"Daughter of the Winter Court, Gabe. Our species can adapt to the dark. I understand how you're feeling, but she's not the only one in a pickle."
Izzy motioned ahead, and from a distance, they saw the silhouette of a monstrous creature, its horns scraping the ceiling. The creature let out a deafening roar that shook the very foundation of the building.
Gabriel's eyes glowed a menacing electric blue. "You slow him down, I end him."
"Totally," Izzy replied, her voice dripping with venom as the creature charged toward them.
"Let's get to work," Gabriel said, drawing two small, wickedly sharp blades from his sleeves.
The air grew colder as they advanced, the temperature dropping to an unnatural chill that prickled their skin. Shadows seemed to writhe and twist around them, thickening with each step. The creature's roar reverberated through the hall, a symphony of rage and hunger.
Gabriel moved with preternatural grace, a dark blur against the dim backdrop. Izzy, her form shimmering with an otherworldly aura, raised her hands and conjured a swirling vortex of frost and ice. The temperature plummeted further as she hurled the icy blast at the beast. It bellowed in fury, its movements slowed by the sudden encasement of frost forming over its limbs.
"Now!" Izzy shouted, her voice echoing eerily in the cold air.
Gabriel lunged forward, his blades gleaming with deadly intent. He danced around the creature's sluggish swings, his strikes precise and lethal. Each cut sizzled against the monster's flesh, releasing bursts of acrid smoke.
The creature roared again, shaking off chunks of ice as it thrashed. But Gabriel was relentless, his attacks unyielding. With a final, powerful strike, he drove his blades deep into the creature's heart. It let out a gurgling scream before collapsing into a heap, the life extinguished from its monstrous eyes.
Breathing heavily, Gabriel looked back at Izzy. "Let's move. Eve needs us."
