When I was a kid I grew up on the concept of Heroes aspiring humankind to be the best of themselves that they should be. Which is one of the reasons why I was always fond of the Superman character
Superman to me is The Superhero. Because if there's one thing I find him grounded on it's the fact that he could've used his power to overthrow the world and rule it with an iron fist. But instead, he uses his gift to help people and show that it is good in some people. He never saw himself as a God among men, he just sees himself as a guy wanting to be a good Samaritan. That is what I find lacking in this particular concept because we are now seeing people trying to tear down everything that he stood for.
With Shepard Mysteries, it's about taking the foundation of Superman's character that movies and tv try to destroy and putting it back together again. In a completely original take.
