The 51st Annual Karate Championships, or the 2019 All Valley Karate Tournament, celebrates the 51st year of the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament in the San Fernando Valley, California. It is taking place on May 18th, 2019, with over a dozen dojos competing...and one unaffiliated
young man in a Green Karate Gi currently doing his Warm-Up Exercises. This young man wasn't affiliated with the current all out Karate Gang War between Miyagi-Do/Eagle-Fang and Cobra Kai, nor was he affiliated with any of the other Dojos.
He was literally just passing through en route to Angel Grove, California with his family but he happened to be in town just in time for The All Valley Tournament and thought it would be fun to participate and test his skills against everyone else in the name of having a fun time at the tournament.
Which was why he was a little confused at the angry stare down currently going on between the aforementioned Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang and Cobra Kai Students and Sensei's. Everyone else was just doing their warm-up exercises and talking excitedly about the tournament but those three looked like they were actually angry at each other but were holding it in for the tournament.
Seriously what on Earth could have happened between them to cause such animosity?
Well whatever. It was between them. He just had to focus on the fights ahead. He didn't put too much energy into The Talent Portion of course but that was because he wanted to conserve energy and he was so outnumbered by everyone else that there just wasn't much point in worrying about it. He'd blow everyone away with his real skills soon anyway.
"TOMMY! HONEY! DO YOUR BEST OUT THERE!" Jade Oliver called out to her son.
Tommy laughed and turned around and waved back to his mom. "Hey mom! You got it! Thanks!" He called back.
"Thanks mommy I'll do my best." Kyler parroted in a mocking childish tone. "Pffft can you believe that pussy? We're gonna knock his ass right out of the tournament."
"Don't worry about that loser. Just focus on the enemy. If you go up against him in The Boys Division then you can kill him."
"Be glad to." Kyler laughed. "Him and everyone else here."
"Pull your head out of your ass, Kyler, that new kid's stronger than he looks." Robby warned him.
Kyler rolled his eyes but said nothing. The kid didn't even have a Dojo and he was some nobody loser from nowhere. What threat could he possibly be?
"Focus." Kreese snapped at his students. "We won't have you getting distracted. Follow Tory's advice and focus on the immediate threat. That kid's a speedbump at best. Whoever fights him can end him."
"Stay within the rules but Show No Mercy." Terry added. "Focus on the objective and this tournament is ours." He informed his students while smiling at Daniel and Johnny who glared back at him angrily.
"So do you think that New Kid is going to be a threat?" Miguel asked Sam.
"I dunno. Maybe. It's hard to tell right now though." She replied with a shrug. "Either way one of you guys is going to have to fight him. I've got Tory to worry about."
"Tory and Piper." He reminded her.
"I'm not concerned about Piper. She's just some kid they duped into joining their cult. Tall, blonde and psychotic is the real threat out there. She'll try anything out there."
Miguel gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't let her get to you. Relax, focus and use the early rounds to get warmed up. You'll take her out when the time comes."
"Thanks, Miggy." Sam replied while holding his hand and then she leaned up and gave him a quick kiss. "For luck."
"Back at you."
Tory clenched her hands into fists.
The Hawk meanwhile was getting a pep talk from Moon and Demitri on the stands.
"How are you feeling man?" Demetri asked him.
"I...I don't know if I should really be here...I'm just not feeling it." Hawk admitted. "I'm not...I'm not me anymore without the....you know." He waved his hands over his head where his mohawk used to be. Robby and the Cobras noticed and laughed among themselves but Moon turned his head to face her. Tory paused in her laughter when she got Amanda shooting her a look and instead returned to facing forward.
"Don't worry about those losers, Eli, the Mohawk alone did not define you. It wasn't who you were. Everything you are, everything you've made of yourself, is still right here in front of me. You're still the exact same badass warrior I fell in love with. It's right here." She replied and placed a hand over Eli's heart. "You can do this. You're still The Hawk and Eli Moskowitz."
"You're the most badass kid in The Valley, bro." Demetri reminded him. "You never needed that hair to define you because you put in the work to become the toughest guy in the world. Now are you going to let them get away with attacking you or are you gonna Flip That Script again?"
Eli laughed and hugged them both. "You guys are the best!"
"There he is! There he is!" Demetri laughed with him.
"That's my man! Badass Mode!" Moon replied with a laugh and hugged him back.
"Badass Mode Initiated! Lets get it on!" Hawk released them and sprung back to his feet and walked over to Daniel and Johnny and bowed to them both. "The Hawk is back in action!"
"That's what I like to hear!" Daniel replied while bowing.
"You've got this on lock, Hawk, get ready to show them what you can really do." Johnny informed him.
"Bro!" Miguel called out and fist bumped him.
"Bro." Hawk replied and fist bumped him back.
Robby glared at them. This just got more complicated.
Eventually the Announcer stepped back up onto the mat. "Alright, alright, alright! Everybody are you ready to rock?"
The audience cheered.
"I SAID ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?!"
They cheered even louder.
"THAT'S RIGHT! THAT'S THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY SPIRIT! THIS IS THE ALL-VALLEY TOURNAMENT AND WE'RE HERE TO SEE THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST, THE GREATEST FIGHTERS IN ALL OF CALIFORNIA ASSEMBLE TO COMPETE FOR THE TREASURED #1 TROPHIES AND THIS TIME WE'VE GOT TWO TROPHIES UP FOR GRABS! ONE FOR THE BOYS AND ONE OF THE LADIES! ITS ANYBODY'S GAME IN AN ALL OUT MARTIAL ARTS EXTRAVAGANZA AND MAY THE BEST FIGHTERS WIN!"
The audience roared in approval as he continued to play to the crowd and get them hyped up for the battles ahead!
"ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT! NOW WITHOUT FURTHER ADO LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED! THE FIRST BATTLE OF THE TOURNAMENT, THE ONE TO KICK THIS PARTY OFF SHALL BE TOMMY 'THE DRAGON' OLIVER VS KING COBRA KYLER PARK OF COBRA KAAAAAIIIIIIIIIII!"
Kyler laughed and clapped Robby on the back and ran out onto the mat. "Awww yeah! Kicking this party off right!"
Tommy just smiled and walked out onto the mat and loosened up for the fight, waved to his mom and the crowd and prepared himself. "Good luck man." He told Kyler.
"I don't need luck because this won't even be a fight. It'll be two hits: Me hitting your face and your face hitting the floor. Feel free to cry your eyes out after while I'm taking your hot mom out." Kyler laughed.
"You really should learn to mind your manners pal." Tommy warned him and took his stance.
"BEGIN!" The ref called out.
Kyler immediately ran towards Tommy intending to strike first and dish out the pain on Tommy but he just dodged to the side, pushed Kyler's arm to the side and drove his fist into Kyler's ribs! Kyler gasped in pain and stumbled away from Tommy holding his ribs.
"Stop! Back up! Back up! One point scored! Point Oliver! Score stands at 1-0!"
Kyler turned around and glared at Tommy in anger. "Oh you're dead." He circled back around to his starting position and took his stance while Tommy did the same. The next round began and Kyler attacked him again but Tommy easily defended himself, shut down Kyler's attacks, hooked his arm and punched Kyler in the chest hard enough to force him backwards coughing and holding his chest.
"Point Oliver! Score stands at 2-0!"
Terry folded his arms as he watched.
The next round began and Kyler tried to attack Tommy again but he just ran towards Kyler this time, dodged to the side and kicked Kyler in the stomach in passing hard enough to knock Kyler on his back. He held his stomach in pain and rolled over onto his arms sucking in oxygen.
"Point Oliver! Score stands at 3-0! MATCH OVER! TOMMY OLIVER ADVANCES TO THE NEXT ROUND!"
Tommy bowed to Kyler and the Ref and Judge and walked off the mat while Kyler was helped off of the mat by The Cobras.
"Alright. We've learned two things: Kyler is pathetic and this Tommy kid is going to be a problem." Terry informed Kreese. "Where'd he come from anyway?"
"Never seen him before or we would've recruited him. We'll just have to be careful. I don't want any more screw ups moving forward. Is that clear?"
"Yes Sensei!" The Cobras replied.
"Oh man that was cathartic to watch." Demetri commented while laughing.
"Okay this kid is good. He's really good." Hawk responded while he warmed up. "Should be a fun match."
