Summary: David King is a young boy with dreams of becoming a Paragon like his adoptive mother, Cody King. But when strange and terrifying things begin to happen in Shepard, David finds himself in the middle of a dangerous mystery. A beast is terrorizing the town, and it's up to David to uncover the truth and save Shepard before it's too late.
Along the way, David will meet a cast of colorful characters, including witches, vampires, and werewolves, each with their own secrets and motivations. With the help of his friends, and his own growing powers, David must navigate the treacherous world of the supernatural and find a way to defeat the beast.
Main Cast of Characters:
David King - A teenager adopted by a semi-retired superhero, who discovers his own super strength and navigates the supernatural secrets of his small town. He is a classic example of a Lawful Good character, with a strong moral compass, a desire to do what's right even if it's difficult, and a willingness to learn and grow as he discovers his powers and the supernatural world.
Jessica Brannon - A more recent resident of the town of Shepard ever since she escaped from the psychotic Brannon Clan. During her time she tried to adjust to life in the town for the sake of her younger sister Jean Brannon. Ever since her truce meeting with her family, thanks to the help of her friend Derrick and Cody she now has a new life she can establish for herself and her sister.
Jean Brannon - Younger sister of Jessica Brannon who'd help David with his cases throughout the town.
Cody King - David and Eve's adoptive mother and a former superhero, who struggles with balancing her own trauma and grief with the responsibilities of raising a child and running a Paragon agency. Her relationship with David and how she helps him navigate the challenges of being a hero is a key aspect of her character.
Sebastian Kain - The Town Magistrate and a potentially dangerous ally or enemy, who is mysterious and enigmatic with a hidden agenda. The motivations and extent of his power, as well as how he interacts with other characters in the series, are important aspects to explore.
Izumi "Izzy" Miyazaki - A witch and David's childhood friend, who brings a unique influence to their relationship with her magic and worldview. Her relationship with her spiritual companion and role within the witch community are also important aspects to develop.
Alex the Town Sheriff - The leader of Shepard's law enforcement, Alex plays a significant role in maintaining order in the town and ensuring that the supernatural and human communities coexist peacefully.
Wilhelm "Willow" Morningstar - A paladin and potential love interest for David, who offers a practical and experienced perspective on the supernatural world. Her relationship with her family, especially her mother the Sheriff, and how it affects her interactions with David and other characters are important to explore.
Ikanori Miyazaki - The older sister of Izumi Miyazaki, and a member of The Student Council. She is part of the public relations division and is a witch like her sister. David goes to her whenever there is a case that needs to be solved.
Anabelle Frost - As a wealthy businesswoman and leader of the town's vampire community, Anabelle could bring a complex and intriguing dynamic to the series, as she is interested in David's powers and may play a pivotal role in the series. Consider exploring her motivations, goals, and how she interacts with other characters, especially David and the other supernatural beings in the town.
Ava Rose - As a journalist and amateur sleuth, Ava could bring a fresh perspective and determination to the series, as she investigates the supernatural occurrences in the town and forms an alliance with David and Cody in their quest for truth. Consider developing her motivations, skills, and the challenges she faces in her pursuit of the truth.
Sally Bjornson - A Lycan who works at the famous Bifrost Diner. When not working, she runs with her pack of lycans, acting as guardians and protectors of the town. The dynamics of her relationships with David and other characters, as well as her role within the Lycan community, are important aspects to develop.

Prologue Dream A Little Dream
Emerald green eyes fluttered open. Cody King let out a yawn, her body feeling groggy as she took a moment to center herself. She glanced at the clock, which read 4:30 AM. It was the usual time for her morning exercise and hour of quiet before preparing breakfast for her son David.
But something felt different. The air was tense, and a prickling sensation ran down her spine. She surveyed the room, but everything appeared as it always did.
Suddenly, a deep and familiar voice spoke, "Good morning, Paragon."
Cody's body went rigid as a tall, dark figure stepped out of the shadows between the foot of her bed and the door to her room.
"Equilibrium," she whispered in disbelief.
"Glad to see me, my child?" he cooed.
Cody couldn't believe her eyes. He was dead, and yet here he was. She instinctively reached for her powers to send him far, far away, but to her horror, she found she was unable to use them.
"You see, my child, I believe in coming prepared," Equilibrium said with a smirk. "Your little physics gift? Completely helpless."
He stalked around the bed and sat beside her, and Cody scooted away, pressing her back against the bedboard.
"Now you'll come to realize what I could have taught you," he said. "All you had to do was beg."
He reached up with his black-gloved hand and cupped her face, his thumb tracing her jawline. To Cody's horror, she felt that his hand was coated in blood.
Her fear turned to rage as she lunged at Equilibrium, powers or not, she would do anything to save her son. But he caught her fist and shattered it with a sickening crunch. He grabbed her by the throat and pinned her against the bedboard.
"The boy has potential, but you're only holding him back," he said.
"He will never join a monster like you," Cody choked out.
"He won't have a choice," Equilibrium replied with a sinister smile. "And you won't be there to save him. Farewell, my child."The emerald, green eyes snapped open again, and Cody sat up, panting. She frantically searched the room, thinking that Equilibrium was still there. "It was just a dream," she panted. "No. A nightmare." With a mother's instincts, she rushed to David's room, and to her relief, found him sleeping peacefully. She covered her mouth to keep from breaking down, and with shaking hands, she leaned over and gave him a kiss on the forehead before leaving the room and closing the door behind her.
"I'm here Partner, center yourself. Talk to me," Izumi Quan Sun says in a soothing tone through Cody's phone on her nightstand. Cody closed her eyes and take a few deep breaths. "That's it. Deep breaths, center yourself, remember where you are." "Right, right" Cody nods "Are you on the floor of your bedroom in a fetal position clutching your Green Ranger plushy right now?" Cody observed her surroundings, she was on her bed with her knees pulled up to her Green Ranger Plushy that she holds close to her chest. "I'm not on the floor this time." "That's a good start" Izumi comments. "How do you know when to contact me?" "I know you. I know when someone close to me needs help." Cody sighs and rests her chin on her knees, "After all these years I'd think I'd be over this by now." "Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. The Ghost From Our Past will continue to haunt us. The question is will you let it control you?" Cody shook her head, she straightened up and got up from the bed, and placed her plushy close to her pillows. "No way. He's dead, I'm alive, and I've raised an awesome son." "You damn right you have. Anyone capable of taking down a Slasher at the age of twelve is going places." Cody's expression brightens, "Thanks for the talk, Bird Girl, I owe you one." "Anytime" "But really, Cody, it's important to remember that it's okay to not be okay. You don't have to put on a brave face all the time. It's okay to seek help and support, especially from people who care about you." Izumi's voice is filled with warmth and understanding. Cody nods, "I know. It's just, sometimes it feels like I'm back there, you know? Like the past is just waiting for me to drop my guard and come back." "I understand. But it's not real, Cody. It's just a memory. And you have the power to overcome it. You're a survivor, Cody, a fighter. You've been through so much and come out stronger on the other side." Cody smiles, "You always know the right thing to say, Bird Girl." "That's what friends are for." Izumi replies, "Now go get some rest, and remember, I'm here for you, anytime you need me."

Now this is sweet. While it's clear that Equilibrium's darkness left a scar on her that has yet to heal even after all this time, Cody is recovering and is managing to be an awesome parent despite her scars and we should all have a friend like Izumi who is there for her friends and allies no matter where the time or place. It's easy to see where Carmella gets her heroism from. Stellar opening!

David King age 16 David King is flying. And he's having the time of his life.
He soars in the air, higher than he could possibly go. All smiles as he enjoys the wind on his face and the feel of flying through the clouds in the sky. This isn't like his usual dreams that pose as a warning of things to come. He hasn't had those kinds of dreams in a while.
He has had this on a few occasions. His first dream was him flying clear across town and then halfway across the United Republic. Currently, he wanted to test the true limits of his abilities so he decided to take his flying journey upward. Just as soon as he finds himself nearly exiting the earth's orbit he felt the whole world around him shift. He awakens within the confines of his bedroom. He wipes the remnants of sleep from his eyes, smiled to himself, taking comfort at how nice of a dream he had. Plus the feeling of being light as a feather. The moment he got his bearings he finds himself levitating a few feet above his bed. "Wha-!" Then he instantly crashed down upon it. David took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair. 'It was such an awesome dream His thoughts of it were interrupted by the lovely aroma of breakfast in the kitchen of his and Cody's home. The rumbling in his stomach is a strong indication for him to get up and get himself ready for breakfast. The kitchen was warm and cozy, with the sun shining in through the windows, illuminating the countertops and cabinets. The walls were painted a cheerful yellow and adorned with family photos and paintings of mythical creatures like dragons and unicorns. David took a bite of his pancake, savoring the sweet, buttery flavor. "Mom, this is incredible," he said, smiling at Cody. Cody returned the smile, taking a seat across from David. "I'm glad you like it. I figured we could start the day off right with a big breakfast." David took a sip of his orange juice, looking thoughtful. "I'm meeting up with the guys at the Bifrost Diner later. We're going to grab a bite to eat and catch up." "That sounds like fun," Cody said. "I've got a meeting with the town magistrates this morning. We'll be discussing some important business for the community." David nodded, "You're always working hard for the town Mom. I'm proud of you." Cody beamed at her son, "And I'm proud of you too. You're growing into such a responsible young man.” David smiled at his mom’s words. Then took a risk, “ responsible enough to drive the truck?” Cody ruffled her son’s hair, “Don’t press your luck”

Miyazaki ManorThe house staff had already laid out a lavish breakfast spread for the Miyazaki Family. Katrina Miyazaki and Amaterasu Miyazaki already took their place at the table. The one member of the family late for the party was Izumi Miyazaki, Izzy to her friends. "Woof, looks like someone had a rough night" Katrina commented regarding how ruffled Izzy's hair looked. Izzy just closed her eyes and took a deep breath, "Way too early for this Katrina" "Got into a disagreement with a blow dryer or something?" "Behave you two," Amaterasu said calmly before she took a sip of orange juice. "Yes, GranGran," Both Izzy and Katrina said simultaneously. Izzy took a deep breath and concentrate. She brought her hands back and rand them over her hair to straighten them out. Her dark hair flowed down straight to her back. As demonstrated just now, magic is real. And is as alive and just as unpredictable. She has been a practitioner of magic ever since she was a little girl. She relaxed and helped herself to a bowl of rice mixed with vegetables and fish. She notices the glass of orange juice far from her yet near her grandmother. "Could you pass me the orange juice please" "You know what to do to warrant that" Amaterasu commented before taking a bite of her breakfast "Come on, GranGran I just woke up" Amaterasu didn't respond, she just glanced at Izzy while wiping her mouth with her napkin. (It's not going to be that easy, sis) Katrina said, drinking her own glass of OJ Izzy sighed inwardly, as much as Katrina irritated her she has a point. if she wants the drink then she must use The Voice. She glanced at the glass near GranGran and at the head of the household herself. She glanced at the pitch of OJ and uttered quietly. "Give me the orange juice" "Sorry, Child. Not convincing. Neither is the magic within you" Terasu said Izzy shifted her gaze towards her grandmother. Her body language more focused this time around. The atmosphere within the kitchen changed as her older sister and her grandmother feel the winds picking up slightly. "Give me the orange juice" Izzy commanded in a more authoritative manner. Amaterasu grabs the pitch and hands it to Izzy, "Close" she smiled "Close?" "Magic shouldn't be rushed or treated like a tool. It should be treated like a dance partner to make the rhythm flow properly" Terasu said Izzy nodded and took a sip of her drink. "You look tired, Sis. Another Prophecy Dream" Katrina asked with a hint of concern in her voice Izzy looked thoughtful, and she wants to tell her family, the dream starts to blur but the images she has seen continue to plague her mind and the last thing she want is for her family to worry. So instead she responds, "No"

So instead she responds, "No" Fantastic introductions to the two families! I really like the contrast between the more down to Earth King Family and the lavish luxury of the Miyazaki Family. Plus the interactions between them are great. Davey Jones' intro is right out of Smallville until he snapped back to reality and came crashing back down to Earth (ope, there goes gravity!) and he still remains grounded and down to Earth as he sits down for a healthy breakfast with his mom. Contrast with the fun and supernatural interactions with the Miyazaki's and there's some fun banter between them before Izzy's mom tests her abilities. Izzy's clearly quite powerful but she has a ways to go yet before she reaches her full potential. And the usage of The Voice gives her unbelievable potential on par with Stars&Stripes or Jesse Custer! Looking forward to seeing more of them and their families!

Her chest burned, starved for oxygen when she finally hunched over and rested her hands on her knees. She wanted to throw up. The scent alone was enough to churn her stomach, a vile concoction of blood and viscera mingling with the remnants of her fear. But she wouldn’t give them that satisfaction. Not after what they did. Not after what they did to her.
She lifted her head, taking in the scene—a grotesque tableau of blood, bone, and organs splattered on the walls like a macabre art installation. It was the closest thing she could liken to her former tormentors, now rendered into unrecognizable parts. Her body trembled, and anyone would forgive her if she broke down. But no tears came.
Tears had never stopped them from chasing her, cornering her, holding her down as she pleaded for mercy, crying out in pain as they beat her.
She straightened, her gaze unwavering, her mind a tumultuous sea of past horrors and present triumph. The brutality of what she’d done was a mirror to the brutality she’d endured. Each act of violence she inflicted was a reclamation, a piece of herself torn away and now viciously reattached. The catharsis was bitter, tainted by the irreversible transformation it marked.
She thought of their faces, twisted with cruelty, now twisted with something else entirely. Her thoughts flickered back to the dark corners of her mind, to the nights she spent nursing bruises and broken spirits. Every insult, every punch, every humiliating laugh was paid back in kind, with interest.
The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood, a scent she knew too well. She remembered the first time she tasted her own blood, the sharp tang of it, mingled with the salt of her tears. Those days were gone, replaced by this nightmarish victory. Her tormentors were no longer threats; they were warnings.
She exhaled slowly, feeling the tension in her muscles, the echoes of their jeers still faintly ringing in her ears. She had become something else, something beyond the girl they had tormented. She was the reaper of their sins, the embodiment of their worst fears.
She whispered to the silence, her voice carrying a cold finality, "They had it coming."

FATALITY! Okay with the jokes aside now that is definitely an intense beginning! Really highlights the sheer power of the main character and the deadly potential of Telekinesis unleashed. Really nails The Elfen Lied vibe! This is going to be a fascinating study!
