"I'm here Partner, center yourself. Talk to me," Izumi Quan Sun says in a soothing tone through Cody's phone on her nightstand. Cody closed her eyes and take a few deep breaths.
"That's it. Deep breaths, center yourself, remember where you are"
"Right, right" Cody nods
"Are you on the floor of your bedroom in a fetal position clutching your Green Ranger plushy right now?"
Cody observed her surroundings, she was on her bed with her knees pulled up to her Green Ranger Plushy that she holds close to her chest. "I'm not on the floor this time"
"That's a good start" Izumi comments
"How do you know when to contact me?"
"I know you. I know when someone close to me needs help."
Cody sighs and rests her chin on her knees, "After all these years I'd think I'd be over this by now"
"Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. The Ghost From Our Past will continue to haunt us. The question is will you let it control you?"
Cody shook her head, she straightened up and got up from the bed, and placed her plushy close to her pillows. "No way. He's dead, I'm alive, and I've raised an awesome son"
"You damn right you have. Anyone capable of taking down a Slasher at the age of twelve is going places"
Cody's expression brightens, "Thanks for the talk Bird Girl, I owe you one"
"Anytime"

Now this is a nice and sweet scene! Izumi is a perfect friend for Cody and I love how understanding she is in helping Cody in dealing with her lingering trauma. Also, kudos for the plushy. Having something close on hand that you can hug and embrace to help with your recovery is perfectly fine and understandable and a Superhero like the Green Ranger would be a very understanding plushy for her. Further, has David met Carmella yet?

Author's Note: Thought I'd do something a little different from this when compared to my other stories by writing it as if it were an episodic series. But with an unlimited budget So with that in mind here is what I would've chosen as an opening theme for Shepard Mysteries.

Prologue Carry On Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more Michael and Gabriel were just kids, Michael was 17 and Gabriel was 10 when their parents were brutally slain by a powerful demon. Michael was out in the woods, collecting firewood when he heard his parent's screams. He ran back home as fast as he could but he was too late, he found his parents being killed by a huge demon, with red eyes and sharp claws. Gabriel, the younger brother, was lying on the floor. Alive but wounded by the demon's attack. The demon loomed over him and cast a portion of his essence into the child's wound. Tainted his blood, leaving him forever changed. Michael, the older brother, was filled with anger and despair, he picked up his father's sword and attacked the demon, but he was no match for it. The demon laughed at him and disappeared into the night. Michael hugged his brother and promised him that he will protect him and keep him safe from harm. Years passed and the brothers grew into skilled Huntsmen, with Michael taking on the role of Gabriel's protector and guide. Their shared tragedy had brought them closer than ever, and they were determined to rid the world of the monsters that had taken so much from them. "Are you ready, Gabriel?" Michael asked as they were preparing to leave their home. Gabriel nodded and picked up his bow and arrows. He may not be able to speak because of the traumatic event, but he could still communicate through his actions. They set out on a journey, traveling the roads and hunting down any and all monsters that crossed their path. Michael's strength and skill with a sword were matched only by Gabriel's keen senses and stealth, honed by his time living with the demon's curse. Together, they were a formidable team, feared by the monsters and respected by those they protected. As they walked along the road, Michael turned to his brother and said, "We may have lost our parents, but we still have each other. We will always have each other." Gabriel looked at Michael, a small smile on his face, and nodded. He knew that Michael would always be there for him, just as he would always be there for Michael. They knew each other's thoughts and intentions, making them an unstoppable force on the hunt. Their shared goal, to rid the world of monsters, was all they needed to keep them moving forward, as they embarked on their journey as monster hunters.

Solid intro with a fusion of Demon Slayer and Supernatural! Supernatural Slayer! The brothers are likeable and the introduction is quick but it sets up the characters nicely! Looking forward to seeing the characters expand and grow in the story, especially with Gabriel's tainted blood and alterations!

Prologue Dream A Little Dream Emerald green eyes fluttered open. Cody King let out a yawn, her body feeling groggy as she took a moment to center herself. She glanced at the clock, which read 4:30 AM. It was the usual time for her morning exercise and hour of quiet before preparing breakfast for her son David. But something felt different. The air was tense, and a prickling sensation ran down her spine. She surveyed the room, but everything appeared as it always did.Suddenly, a deep and familiar voice spoke, "Good morning, Paragon."Cody's body went rigid as a tall, dark figure stepped out of the shadows between the foot of her bed and the door to her room."Equilibrium," she whispered in disbelief."Glad to see me, my child?" he cooed.Cody couldn't believe her eyes. He was dead, and yet here he was. She instinctively reached for her powers to send him far, far away, but to her horror, she found she was unable to use them."You see, my child, I believe in coming prepared," Equilibrium said with a smirk. "Your little physics gift? Completely helpless."He stalked around the bed and sat beside her, and Cody scooted away, pressing her back against the bedboard."Now you'll come to realize what I could have taught you," he said. "All you had to do was beg."He reached up with his black-gloved hand and cupped her face, his thumb tracing her jawline. To Cody's horror, she felt that his hand was coated in blood. Her fear turned to rage as she lunged at Equilibrium, powers or not, she would do anything to save her son. But he caught her fist and shattered it with a sickening crunch. He grabbed her by the throat and pinned her against the bedboard."The boy has potential, but you're only holding him back," he said."He will never join a monster like you," Cody choked out."He won't have a choice," Equilibrium replied with a sinister smile. "And you won't be there to save him. Farewell, my child."The emerald, green eyes snapped open again, and Cody sat up, panting. She frantically searched the room, thinking that Equilibrium was still there. "It was just a dream," she panted. "No. A nightmare." With a mother's instincts, she rushed to David's room, and to her relief, found him sleeping peacefully. She covered her mouth to keep from breaking down, and with shaking hands, she leaned over and gave him a kiss on the forehead before leaving the room and closing the door behind her.
"I'm here Partner, center yourself. Talk to me," Izumi Quan Sun says in a soothing tone through Cody's phone on her nightstand. Cody closed her eyes and take a few deep breaths. "That's it. Cody's expression brightens, "Thanks for the talk, Bird Girl, I owe you one." "Anytime" "But really, Cody, it's important to remember that it's okay to not be okay. You don't have to put on a brave face all the time. It's okay to seek help and support, especially from people who care about you." Izumi's voice is filled with warmth and understanding. Cody nods, "I know. It's just, sometimes it feels like I'm back there, you know? Like the past is just waiting for me to drop my guard and come back." "I understand. But it's not real, Cody. It's just a memory. And you have the power to overcome it. You're a survivor, Cody, a fighter. You've been through so much and come out stronger on the other side." Cody smiles, "You always know the right thing to say, Bird Girl." "That's what friends are for." Izumi replies, "Now go get some rest, and remember, I'm here for you, anytime you need me." Author's Note: To the curious, I decided to remove the previous story as I wasn't sure where to take it going forward. Plus, I need this series to have time to establish itself, the town, and the characters before I go deep into the cosmic stuff.

David woke up with a start, his heart racing from the dream he just had. He dreamt of flying, soaring through the skies on the back of a dragon. It was a good dream, one he wished he could have every day.
He rubbed his eyes, stretching as he took a look around his room. His walls were adorned with posters of fantastical creatures and scenes from his favorite fantasy books. It was a reflection of his love for adventure and magic.
As he got out of bed, he noticed the small trinket on his nightstand. It was a tiny dragon figurine, gifted to him by his mother. She had told him that it was a special dragon, one that would bring him good dreams and protection. He held it tightly in his hand, feeling a sense of comfort wash over him.
David took a few moments to make up his room, picking up clothes from the floor and putting his books back on the shelf. He then headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. As he cooked, he couldn't help but feel grateful for the small but meaningful trinket that reminded him of his mother and her love for him. He promised himself to always keep it close and cherish it as a reminder of his adventures to come.
David sat at the kitchen table, his gaze fixed on the spread of food before him. Pancakes stacked high, syrup dribbling down their sides, eggs cooked just the way he liked them, and bacon sizzling on a separate platter. His mother, Cody, had prepared all of this with a flick of her wrist, using her reality-warping powers to conjure up a feast fit for a king.
The kitchen was warm and cozy, with the sun shining in through the windows, illuminating the countertops and cabinets. The walls were painted a cheerful yellow and adorned with family photos and paintings of mythical creatures like dragons and unicorns.
David took a bite of his pancake, savoring the sweet, buttery flavor. "Mom, this is incredible," he said, smiling at Cody.
Cody returned the smile, taking a seat across from David. "I'm glad you like it. I figured we could start the day off right with a big breakfast."
David took a sip of his orange juice, looking thoughtful. "I'm meeting up with the guys at the Bifrost Diner later. We're going to grab a bite to eat and catch up."
"That sounds like fun," Cody said. "I've got a meeting with the town magistrates this morning. We'll be discussing some important business for the community."
David nodded, "You're always working hard for the town Mom. I'm proud of you."
Cody beamed at her son, "And I'm proud of you too. You're growing into such a responsible young man.”
David smiled at his mom’s words. Then took a risk, “ responsible enough to drive the truck?”
Cody ruffled her son’s hair, “Don’t press your luck”
The two of them sat in silence for a moment, lost in their thoughts. Then Cody stood up, gathered up the plates, and headed for the sink. "Alright, let's clean up and get ready for our day. It's going to be a busy one."
David nodded, getting up from the table to help his mother with the dishes. The kitchen was filled with the sound of clinking plates and the occasional hum of conversation as the two of them worked in comfortable silence, enjoying each other's company.

A scary opening that emphasizes what a monster Equilibrium really must have been that Cody is still traumatized after their fight even all these years later! But it's nice to see that Izumi is such a total G that she's willing to help her out and give her someone to talk to even after these years. That is a true friend right there. It's interesting to contrast it with David's dream too which emphasizes his innocence and foreshadows that he will one day return to the skies and the stars alike. All coming together with a heartwarming loving breakfast together in the morning. Give it time, David, you'll be driving the truck F&F Style before you know it! Out of curiosity, is Clementine one of the magistrates or does she leave the everyday stuff to the townspeople? I'm sure the SHSSC (Shepard Highschool Student Council) would definitely be involved in that but I'm wondering if The Boss Lady comes down for that or for the really big stuff. Also, David fighting side by side with a giant dragon sounds awesome. EPIC FORESHADOWING!
